Ratchaburi National Museum, located at Woradet Road, Na Muang Sub-district, Muang District, Ratchaburi Province, was established on 20 November 1986 (2529 B.E.). The Fine Arts Department had requested to use the old building of Ratchaburi city hall, which were constructed in 1922 (2465 B.E.) during King Rama VI reign, as a museum according to the project of Fine Arts Department for establishing provincial museum. Ratchaburi National Museum was officially open on 14 October 1991 (2534 B.E.) presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The museum consists of two main buildings including a permanent exhibition building (Mondhon Ratchaburi Governmental Pavilion) and a special exhibition building which is also divided into the administration office and warehouse for antiquities and artifacts (The House of Princess Borom Maha Sri Suriyawong: Chuang Boonnark). |

| Objectives of Establishment | |
| The establishment of this museum aims at centering the education, conservation, and distribution of knowledge and understanding about national art and culture. This will also serve the needs of people and communities in Ratchaburi and neighboring provinces based on the policy of developing the management of modern national museum. The museum focuses on local information by providing permanent exhibitions towards geology, archaeology, history, local art and cultural history, ethnology, and cultural and natural tourist attractions of Ratchaburi. |
