- Carved brick with an image of a woman holding yak-hair whip, wearing ankle-length sarong skirt. The top hem of the skirt is lowered which is similar to the Indian Dhoti skirt. The woman stands in leaning post and wears armlet, bracelet, Kong Sor or neck accessory, and round earrings. The hair is up-tied as Dhavaravadee style bun. The body shape was prominently carved with wide hips and large breasts which suggested Mother Goddess or Mother of primitive society in India. This Shaktism was widely accepted in Indus Valley Civilization. The women carved on the bricks could be Absara angel or princess in Brahmanism/Buddhism. Generally, the goddess was carved with lotus bloom or pot as head accessories but this carved brick displays a woman holding yak-hair whip. The yak is one of the regalia which are the insignia of king. Considering the overall characteristic of this brick, it could be assumed that the brick was made autonomously, not for architectural decors. Perhaps, this brick was not the sculpture that associated to religion at all. If this assumption was correct, it could be reflected that the artist or the sculptor came from high prosperous society and was closely related to ‘Indo-Dvaravati’ culture.
