Kamphaeng Phet National Museum  is located in the old Town during Kamphaeng Phet High School and  Province Museum Complex (Ruan Thai) opposite Wat Phra Thart  Nai Muang sub district, Muang,  Kamphaeng  Phet Province. The  Fine Arts Department was established as a museum of history and archeology collection to preserve and exhibit artifacts from the archaeological zone offense to preserve and disseminate knowledge of academic archeology, history and arts district of Kamphaeng Phet.
    The start of construction in 1967  and was officially opened on  March 19, 1941 by his majesty the king graciously gave Mr.Sukit Nimmanheamin, Minister of Education at that time, represented him.

    When the first built, Kamphaeng Phet National Museum, there was two Thai application brick building, then got the budget to building  connection three buildings by the connection corridor between buildings around. In  2009, there was allocated budget to improve the permanent exhibits in the half and has been allocated in 2013 to make improvements in the second half of the exhibition.

          Budget 2009-2013, There were the budget has been earmarked to improve the permanent exhibition inside all the buildings featured in the historical development, way of life of the inhabitants of the register from the past to the present and focus media and exhibit a more diverse forms, including video, computer touch-screen model, etc. In addition to showcasing the arts and antiques. Exhibitions in Kamphaeng Phet National Museum

       Nowaday, Kamphaeng Phet National Museum has 4 Exhibition buildings, each building has connecting corridor to other build to ease and continued to visit the museum. Inside the building have the divisions of the exhibit as;

Division 1 : Lobby Public Relations Tickets will be available at the visitor and souvenirs. In this section, visitors can listen to the basics of the offense in the form of multimedia.

Division 2 : Meeting rooms for seminars and a briefing room for those who come to visit the group.

Divisions 3 : Exhibit on the historical development of the offense from prehistoric times to modern Sukhothai. The interesting artifacts include stone tools,  fragments of Roman pottery lamps, glass beads and stones Machine tools, metal mold clay Lop Buri , Sangkhalok ware,  Sukhothai and  Kamphaeng Phet rhynchostylis Buddha image.

Division 4 : Exhibitions about the story of Kamphaeng Phet from Ayutthaya to the reign of King Rama V  of Rattanakosin. The exhibition features artifacts and art objects of interest groups including the Hindu gods Shiva, Buddha, the court found pottery, pottery  sculpture and stucco that adorn the temples of Ayutthaya  which found in ​​Kamphaeng Phet area. The exhibition about unofficially of King Rama V in  1906.

Meditating Buddha Image

             Meditating Buddha Image (Soranungorn), quite round face. His eyebrows arched, tapering eyes and glassy downwards. Nose is a prominent ridge  thin lips. Long ears and late ear curl slightly. His head has, frown spiral small childs and large  high embossed skull. The high cone  halo, has the ring  between embross skull and the halo as a Buddha image of Kamphaeng Phet rhynchostylis. Neck has joints caused by the repair. Robe on his right shoulder, Sungati clothe down a long stretch of the bowels. Late robe striped centipede fang shaped pliers. Place hands join on the thighs. Sat on Tharn Singh seat with three legs. Back of base was repaired, front of base has inscribe in Khmer and Phali languages that

             “Soranangaro  Nama Pakava” that means  “God is the Lord name as Soranang”

            However, the experts of  Eastern Languages (Mr.Term  Meetem) translated the inscription that  this Pakava (Buddha Image) names “Phra Soranangorn” Further explained that Soranango refer name of the one in  28 formers Lord Buddha which appeared in Atanatiyaparit. The word “Pakava” that refer to this Buddha Image that in the ancient times, creating Buddha image was created to dedicate to be the representative of Buddha in former and nowadays. For this Buddha has created an offering unto the former Buddha called  Soranangorn.
