Exhibitions

The permanent exhibition zone is divided into 8 sections as follows.

Chumphon Province

EN 01

This section provides background information about Chumphon province, especially geographic information, though visual aids such as transparent images with descriptions.

Pre-historic Chumphon
His section provides information about living traces of pre-historic people in Chumphon Province (2,500 years ago) which is explained with archeological evidences and visual aids such as nearly life-size diorama which displays how pre-historic people lived their life. In addition, antiquities and pictures from archeological sites are used to tell stories during that period of time.

Early Development (historical turning point)
This section tells stories of early communities (during the 5th - 10th Buddhist century) e.g. how an ancient community was established around Khao Sam Kaew area in Na Cha Ang Sub-district, Mueang District, Chumphon Province based on archeological evidences. This section also displays the development of communities in the early age and important roles of these communities as port cities in which trades were carried out through antiquities related to original sources such as bronze drum, valuable colored stones (raw materials used for producing beads), etc. The visual aids include antiquities from the excavation at Khao Sam Kaew Archeological Site, miniature figure diorama, ancient community images around Khao Sam Kaew area, images of antiquities found at Khao Sam Kaew Archeological Site and aerial images.

History of Chumphon
This section displays evidences of habitation and traces of communities in the history. The content is divided into Sukhothai era (around the 18th – 19th Buddhist century), Ayutthaya era (around the 19th – 23rd Buddhist century) and Rattanakosin era (around the 23rd – 25th Buddhist century) through archeological evidences found in Chumphon Province such as religious artifacts, utensil, etc. The visual aids include antiquities found in Chumphon Province, maps, aerial, miniature figure dioramas showing historical events during Ayutthaya and Rattanakosin eras.

Chumphon and the Second World War
this section displays historical events during the Second World War and bravery of youth soldiers who fought for sovereignty from the invasion of the Imperial Japanese Army during the landing operation in Chumphon Province in the morning of 8 December 1941. The visual aids include miniature figure dioramas to illustrating the military combat with the Japanese military forces at Tha Nangang Bridge along with photos of important events during World War II.

Natural and Heritage of Chumphon Province
This section displays remarkable natural characteristics of Chumphon Province which is an abundant source of marine life, as well as a famous marine tourist spot in Thailand. In addition, this section also displays games in various festivals or unique lifestyles of local people. The media used includes photos, portraits, large and small models to showcase the events and stories such as local lifestyles of local people in a local atmosphere, and etc.

Admiral
Krom Luang Chumphon Ketara Udomsak this section tells stories and missions of Krom Luang Chumphon dedicated to the province in certain aspects, as well as relationship with Chumphon Province. He decided to spend his late life at Sai Ree Beach (in the south of Chumphon Estuary) until his death on 19 May 1923. The exhibition media includes photographs of Admiral Krom Luang Chumphon and a sign showing the “Arpakorn” family tree along with descriptions.

Chumphon as a City on the Route of Typhoon

EN 02

This section display a story of typhoon occurrence in Chumphon Province. The exhibition media includes the simulation of Typhoon Gay which caused considerable damage to Chumphon Province on 4 November 1989 with light-color-sound technique along with videos so that visitors feel like they are in the event.

EN 03
